The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

Personally, I have never heard of the concept of the first 100 days before except when the Democrats won the House and Senate in 2006 and Pelosi promised to accomplish many things within the first 100 days of their control. Of course, not only did they fail to accomplish anything but they ended up with the lowest approval ratings ever seen in the 2 Houses. Not that it mattered because the American people not only ignored these numbers but they added more Democrats to these Houses giving them more power and almost absolute power by missing the filibuster proof number by 1 or 2 (though that may change) and put a Democrat in the White House.

I can't really hold President Obama to these same standards because he made no promises to accomplish anything ithin the first 100 days (to my knowledge anyways) but because it was the Democrats who first introduced me to this 100 first days concept, I feel compelled to apply this to Obama as well. Realistically, there is very little any President should be able to accomplish in 100 days. The way I see it, to take serious issues and attempt to resolve them in 100 days shows to me that they did not care enough about the issue and just got it over with just to get it out of the way or because they had the power to pass it regardless what anyone thought about it.

Still, today Obama chose to make speeches about his "progress" in these first 100 days so it's only fair that we point out not only his "accomplishments" but his failures as well. No longer can anyone claim "it's too early to call" since the President took it upon himself to "brag" about his Administration coincidentially (?) on the day of his first 100 days in office, not to mention, in my book, the Democrats started this whole first 100 days game, it's only fair we are allowed to throw it right back at them.

Does it really matter? Not really, to me anyways. I'm a realist and I can accept that even Obama can not make miracles in such a short amount of time. However, mistake don't need 100 days, these can be done in 1 minute and Obama has made quite a few in 100 days. You can't sit there and say "what mistakes?" but we all know hat Obama has done. Feel free to request what mistakes Obama has done. I'll be glad to point out a few in the comments below, though I'm sure others won't wait to be asked. But since Obama wants to make it matter just as the Democrats did in 2006, I saw we take advantage. After all, we can't let a "crisis" go to wait, right?

It's been around, in fact I was at the first Bush's 100 day address.

Does it matter?

Well imagine upon being on your own as an adult, you spent more money in 100 days than your father, grandfather, great grandfather and so on going back two thousand years, their money adjusted for inflation of course. I'd say that was significant.

Agreed, now hopefully more people can see things the same way; No president, Rep or Dem, can make miracles.

Nope and they need to stop making promises as if they could make miracles out of them.

Never heard it before till the Dems did it during the House elections. Kinda stupid if you ask me but if they want to make something of it, I plane on holding them to it.

If we had a politician who said something along the lines of: "Listen, I'm not going to make promises, because chances are they will be impossible to keep with the way things are. I will however, work my ass off for you. I love this country, and I'm going to work for it. I, just like you, want the best out of it and want it to succeed. Failure is not an option."

Oh man, would I vote for the guy. That's gumption and straightforwardness.

I agree, all elected officials should be held accountable.

100 days are not enough time to do much good, but they are certainly enough time to cause colossal mess ups... like, say, passing trillions in pork and bailouts.

For reference, the origins of the term, "The First 100 Days".

Thanks for the link UBoB. That was pretty good. I always learn something new.

Picking tax cheats for Administration positions, breaking promises left and right, bowing to kings, trying to make friends with dictators who later mock him and my fav on, let Air Force One fly over NYC accompanied by jet fighters at very low altitudes without warning, scaring the hell out of NYers while spending $300,000 for some cheap photos during a time we are spending money we don't have.

Hey Obama, ever heard of Adobe Photoshop? You'd be surprised how easy it is to make a picture of Air Force One flying over the Statue Of Libery without actually having to fly the play and most people won't even know the difference. Not to mention Afobe Photoshop only cost a measely $600. Think of the savings from the $300,000.

Using appeasement tactics with north korea and iran. (because they worked so well in the past... or with that school bully)
