The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.
Published on November 2, 2010 By CharlesCS In Politics

What a shameful day this day, the day I wanted to make my voice count, to make a difference and as usual the system screwed me. I was denied my right to vote simply because I had recently moved and had not updated my address in the system. 2 polling placed refused to let me vote with the excuse that it would violate a law to allow me to vote on either one.

This I an outrage, illegals get to vote, people without licenses get to vote, unregistered people get to vote, me and my wife? We were denied a basic right. I hope Democrats lose and lose bad. I hope Obama’s powers are so weakened that we will ask ourselves what's the point of having him.

Come 2012 I will make sure the world hears me as this will not go unpunished. I will dedicate myself to pointing out every flaw in our system and educate people in the corruption that plagues this system. I am, for the first time, very disappointed in my country. For the first time I am ashamed to call myself an American. But I will not lose hope as I will keep on fighting for the rights of every citizen.

I am a Hispanic Conservative and the Democrats will never get my vote even if there is no one else to vote for. I would rather add Mickey Mouse manually.

I am furious!!!

Many places will take a utility bill plus a picture ID. Too late now.

I was never offered an option and according to the Attorney General, this should not have happened.

Really sucks, but as usual honest, hard working Americans get the shaft.

The irony is that my area was the one taking it's sweet time counting the ballots making everyone wait so that the candidates can truly be announced as winners. Such a shame.

Sorry to hear that, CS. That same thing could have happened to the guy that lived next door to me. He moved across town a few days ago. He lied so he could vote for Governor. The way he sees it(and me)it's okay, seeing how the Government lies to us daily.

The good news tho Charles is MARCO WON!!!  You have to be excited about that.  Great news for our state!!

I was fortunate enough not only to meet him and speak with him for a few moments but the Newspaper posted a great picture of me and Marco the next day.  A keeper for sure especially if he makes it all the way to President like they're saying he might.

That stinks Charles.

Awww! Charles, that stinks.  You should have spoken spanish to them I'm sure that would have helped.

They asked for my driver's license (which I'm fine with) I told them that tactically I thought they couldn't ask for my license.  In the end I thanked them for asking.

HAHAHAHA! Oh, Bonehead!  How I missed your comments around the place.

It's unfortunate. Most folks who have moved in the past do know about the registration thing. Seems to me at this point in tech development a retinal scan/biometric profile could be stored and one could then vote anywhere (but only for the candidates in his district).

Registration however, is necessary for all the obvious reasons. I don't think blaming the President for laws on the books for decades is logical.

hey, that's an idea

Ironically we didn't vote simply because they asked my wife if we still lived on the address on her license and she said no and that when all hell broke lose after we had driven 15 minutes to get to the second location with only 15 minutes left to vote. I feel like I was rob, I felt like I was told I was worthless, not worthy of giving a vote. I still feel the sting right now. I have never been so passionate about something like this before, I am truly hurt.

Yea, but I really wanted to do my part. I was also looking to vote no on amendment 4 because if it passed it could have cost many jobs in my company including possibly mine. Still we came on top. I just feel like I can't enjoy this victory as good as i wanted to.

How I envy you.

That stinks Charles.

It sure does but the ass kicking the Democrats got almost makes up for it.

Never thought about that. Maybe I should have.

They asked for my driver's license (which I'm fine with) I told them that tactically I thought they couldn't ask for my license. In the end I thanked them for asking.

I was so mad I told them in their faces that they denied me and my wife our right to vote.

I would have given a urine or blood sample if it would have allowed me to vote. But this won't happen again, next time I will not only makes sure I have my shit together but I will be carrying the rules with me so i can show them how they are violating my rights.

Registration however, is necessary for all the obvious reasons. I don't think blaming the President for laws on the books for decades is logical.

I know, but I wanted to take it out on someone and who better than him.

So true.  Defeating despotism is never enough. It has to be smashed in order to eliminate their capacity to deprive you of your rights.

I'm lucky in that I remembered to send in a voter registration card back in August... I missed the primary, but made it to the general election.

on Jan 10, 2011

Even without a speck of id or proof of address you have the legal right to cast a 'provisional vote.'  You'd then be given a set amount of time, I think it's 7 to 10 days, to return your proof of residency to the local board of elections, at which time your vote would be counted.

Know your rights!  I'd have made a stink and a half, and would have remained on-site while I called the board of elections AND the local media.  Some of these volunteer poll workers have the intellectual capacity of a salted slug and are wholly unfamiliar with key legislation governing elections.  You really want to depend on them to 'give' you your rights?  Hah, they don't even know what those rights are half the time.

That's why it pays to know them yourself, and take a stand on them when some moron seeks to deprive you.

Sorry you missed the opportunity to educate these jerks, better luck next time.
