The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

Not sure about you but I like the Ribbon UI added to the Microsoft Office UI. I find it very useful and nice. To add it to the next Microsoft Windows OS seems like a given. But as usual you get the “I think this is stupid” or “I can’t stand the Ribbon UI” comments from either Windows haters or people who simply want to stir up some debate over “what’s new” out there. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with this idea.

What about you? Do you like this idea? Do you dislike it? Why?

I don't have MS Office so I'm not familiar with the Ribbon UI but I do agree with you that some folks will just want to 'stir the pot' over anything new or changes in features.

I started using DOpus (Directory Opus) a couple of years ago, and never looked back... fast, amazing possibilities and a variety of skins.

I think it's rubbish, I think many things that were previously easily accessible were removed. It is the one single reason I stopped using msoffice and switched to openoffice.

I personally do not care for the ribbon UI, but many do and progress goes forward. If MS goes this way I have no problem with it. You cannot nor should you live in past accept the new and learn how to use it for your benefit. I know many people are resistant  to change, you see that on numerous forums be it Vista, W7 and in the future W8.

I have office 2010 with ribbon, but I also have a add-on package that allows me to have a menu bar instead of using a ribbon, I do not use office that much any-more except for OUTLOOK so the add-on was perfect for me. If I was a daily user of Office 2007 or 2010 I would learn the ribbon.

I don't even know what the Ribbon UI looks like. I don't use MSOffice. I use Libre Office 3.3 from the same guys that developed Open Office but went Indie when some other dudes bought it. Pretty cool too.

There are lots of stuff being 'leaked' on what Windows 8 might look like and what new functions/options it may have.  Keep in mind most of the stuff that gets shown may or may not make it into the final release.  Seems to me we go through this with every new release, don't we?

yes we do, but it's fun to speculate and find out if people may actually like the leaked features. I didn't actually expect to see so much opposition towards the Ribbon UI but hey, thats how it goes.
