Iraqi Gov't reaches another US set benchmark

It would seem that those who thought the Iraqi Gov't was not trying to unite the people of Iraq might wanna rethink their thoughts. New legislation was passed on Saturday that will allow members of the Baath Party to go back to the jobs they had lost during the so-called de-Baathification that went on in Iraq after Saddam was captured. Tens of thousands of people who thru connections with the Baath Party lost their jobs when the newly formed Iraqi Gov't began to dismiss anyone related to the Party that had control of Iraq during Saddam's years of leadership.
But this legislation will not simply allow all those connected to the Baath Party gain the jobs and positions they lost. The legislation will allow lower ranking members with little or no criminal backgrounds to get their jobs back and those with high-ranking positions will be sent to compulsory retirement . The bill was approved unanimously and was titled the Accountability and Justice law. They hope this will relieve some of the tension that has cause the insurgency in the country.
It has taken some time, and many mistakes were made. But it would seem that more and more progress continues to come out of Iraq. Not that many people care, right?

Hmmm, why hasn't the Clueless Old Liberal blogged on this and told us all about all of the mistakes? (Oh, wait, because he already told us about the mistakes over, and over, and over again.... and because he never blogs on good news, only on bad.)

I'm actually waiting for those who will criticize this by saying how long it took or how many had to die before it could happen. Not to mention how they will be doubtful of the success this legislation may have.

Obviously a good move but weren't the former Ba'ath members fired by order of the CPA, not the Iraqi Government?

Fred Thompson was right when he said you know things must be better in Iraq with the less you read about it. Also notice how you don't hear the media talk about civil wars anymore.
