The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.
Well, it would seem that a pattern I was hoping to break has come back to haunt me and force me to keep it alive. I have the bad reputation of moving once a year from my current living space. Usually we can't keep up with the rent or we look for a better place. At times we were moving away.

This time, however, I may find myself being forced to move. Just a few weeks ago we had a visit from someone looking for the apartment landlord. We were his tenants so the guy, which I found suspicious left. But I was sure what he had in his had were legal papers of some sort. I knew something fishy was going on. A few days later the guy shows up again, except this time I was not home. He came to drop off copies of lgal documents stating the landlord was being sued by his mortgage bank for non payment of the condo mortgage. $70,000 in the hold to be exact. For a moment there I almost lost it; he I was staring and what could be a notice to move out at a time when I was not prepared for such a situation. I found myself going crazy trying to figure out what to do. I ask friends and family for advise, looked for any legal information I could get to make sure I had rights. A co-worker of my wife who also lived in the same apartment complex also received copies of the legal documents since her landlord was the same as mine. She contacted him immidiately and he claimed he would fix the problem not to worry. Well, while I don't trust him, I kept my eyes open and moved on. Well, my eyes just got wider as I found out my wifes co-woker just got a notice from the bank stating she has till July 10th to move out.

I'm shaking as I write this for there is a possibility that my mailbox currently holds a letter stating the same or similar instuctions towards us as well. While this puts me in panic mode, my wife has actually managed to find a possible solution to our current situation. The same guy who helped us get this apartment will help us find another in the same complex except we wont have to pay first months rent. I felt so releaved to hear that but will not be completely calm till I see this apartment and am sure of what he said is true. I can only hope. Wish me luck all. Cross your fingers.

That's awful.

I am hoping you won't be facing the same fate, although it might be better to get out now just because it seems like your landlord's situation is precarious and you may end up with this problem later, if you aren't facing it now.

It would be wonderful if you could get the apt in the complex without having to pay deposits and all that. And it would probably be easier on the kids, too, since they are probably used to where you live now.

My poor kids have had to move a lot, too. In some ways it's fun for them, but it also makes it hard for them to make lasting friendships and switching schools is always difficult. Not to mention how it can undermine that sense of stability.

Keep us posted.

I was renting and a guy got behind in his tax payments. I got a certified letter to make all payments to the county (I had 2 months to go on my lease). I did. They may not want to kick you out right away as they can force you to pay them the amount you were paying him. At least they are recouping some of their money that way.

Good luck in any case. Fingers crossed for the best.

Well, so far no letter today. Because we are a bit tight on money we can't affoird to miss hours or days at work so i was unable to see the apartment today. But there's always tomorrow. I'm sure I'll find a way thru this, I just hate it when I get slammed with so many issues at one time. I get out of one only to land in another. I should write a book on how to avoid all these dilemmas.
