Thanks to terfan1980's article "Hancock" (great article BTW), I was inspired to ask this question to all. Taking into consideration the average price of $4 a gallon of gas and some people having to rethink and readjust their budgets, not to mention ticket and popcorn prices going up with or without the help of gas prices, what are your plans for all the summer blockbusters that are already starting to hit the big screens or will soon be?
For some there are options and that is where the title of this article comes in. For those of you who would still like to be able to go to the theaters to watch all the new stuff playing now or coming soon and also have this option, what are you willing to sacrifice to keep some entertainment in your daily lives?
Would you rather:
A) Pay the high ticket price followed by the combo from hell (popcorn and a soda for an arm and a leg) while only wasting gas to get to the theater (and depending on the distance as well), but you get quality picture and sound plus some decent (if not overly cold) A/C.
or
Go to a drive-in where the price is near half as much, you get to bring your own food ($5 Little Caesars Large Pizza
) and the comfort of your own vehicle (for those who have comfy vehicles or a pick up truck where you can put a couple of beach chairs and with some outside speakers enjoy the movie), but you get lousy sound (FM signal that sounds like AM radio) and picture, if you have no A/C you sh_t out of luck, you waste gas keeping the car on at least during half the movie, and hopefully you get there early enough to get a decent parking spot. Not to mention pray it don't rain.
So it would seem both options have their goods and their bads, with the drive-in having a few more bads than goods depending on the day.
What would you choose if you had these options (I do)?
