Dear President George W. Bush,
On this your last day as President of the United States of America, I just wanted to say thank you for your service for the past 8 years. While many in this country, and abroad, did not like you (considering your approval ratings) you were our President none the less and for that you have my respect. Achieving the position of the leader of the Free World is no easy task; just ask Obama and his family. Handling the job is even harder. Not many in this country could say they could have done better. Many can’t probably even comprehend the responsibilities involved. Not everything you did was wrong, at least not from my point of view. No one is perfect and as the sayings go:
“He who is free from sin cast the first stone”
and
“To err is human”
Many of your decisions were bad, but many were also good. For anyone to expect perfection from anyone in your position must still be living in a fantasy world. These have not been the best 8 years for our country but then this is not the first time we go thru hard times either. Our people must stay strong and never forget our history, our Constitution, what this country stands for and how it was built (the good and the bad).
May history be as little cruel as possible and may your life after the Presidency be decent, quiet and comfortable. Farewell, God bless you and good luck.
Yours truly
A humble American citizen.
