The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

OK, I am looking for some suggestions on digital cameras from my wife as a Valentine's Day gift. My wife was very interested in the Nikon Coolpix S60 with the touch screen features but apart from being a tad bit pricey for us, I have read many bad reviews on the camera and how the features are more cool than fuctional.

I am looking for an 8 to 10 MP digital camera for less than $200 with some nice features. What can you guys/gals recommend?

wow....I'm lucky if I get chocolates and flowers!!!

My husband is so busy at Valentine's (also our anniversary) and he hates to shop.   I tell him not to bother.  Usually he stops on the way home and picks up something little just to say he remembers  anyway and I'm good with that.

Besides all that, it's the businesses and card people who are really behind all this.  They are the ones reaping all the benefits and making you feel guilty if you don't go out and spend money on a certain day.  We don't buy into that.   What's more important is the other 364 days of the year and in fact, would mean more to see something nice on an unexpected day just because.......

Well the truth about most of the compact digitals is that they suck. Kodak is trash. Don't bother trying to capture anything with action because you need to press the button a few seconds before the shot you want to capture. Unless you have the power to glimpse 3 seconds in the future to get the right shot...

The best thing you can do is go play with them. There so many features to consider lens quality, zoom amd so on. None of those really matter if you can't ever take the shot you want. I'll stick to my Nikon D80. It's a lot of camera to haul around but I get the shot I want everytime.

That is true. But I am doing it because we have been wanting a camera for some time and now that I have the money, I figured what better time than VD to give it to her.

VD to give it to her.

VD?

I hope you're not giving her VD.....

Our digital camera is the same as Whip's and John's. It sucks when taking pictures of kids, too. Because most kids aren't going to keep posing for those 3 extra seconds after they see your finger click the button.

BTW .. you can't buy a camera anyway you need to save your money to buy a new laptop after the laptop you have now gets ruin after they run it through the airport x-ray. j/k

, I might have to think about that but if LW has her way, I may not need to worry about that.
