I’m big of portable software as some here may already know. I love my PortableApps.com software installed in my portable drive. I am always on the look out for new stuff to add to my PortableApps.com menu. Well, lately I have been using Zoundry Raven to post my articles onto Joeuser.com. I like the fact that it’s portable and keeps my articles separated between the ones posted and the ones I have saved but not posted yet. My only issue is that Zoundry Raven seems to be a bit heavy and bogs down my computer at work. Of course my computer is partially to blame; with only 512 MB of memory and all the work related software I have running at the same time, of course the computer is gonna feel the strain.

Still I figured I could find another portable blog writer that would not bog my PC down so much. Some research yielded very little results, seem portable blog writers are not that needed. But I did come across a portable version of Windows Live Writer. Actually it’s a set of files and folders you can download here and install on any portable drive but the trick is you need to have Window Live Writer installed for it to work. It’s not what you think, after how can it be portable if it’s installed. The reason for the need to have it installed is because you gotta go to the Windows Live Writer folder and copy all the files into the folders you downloaded and installed on your portable drive (just follow the instructions on the site where you downloaded the Windows Live Writer Portable zip file). Once you do that you can uninstall Live Writer if you want, you already got what you needed. If you use the PortableApps.com software just copy the Windows Live Writer Portable folder into the program folder and let the PortableApps.com menu put the shortcut in it for you and voila! Instant portable blog writer.

How does it work? Well, this article was posted using the Windows Live Writer Portable software and I think it worked great. The trick is to figure out which of the 2 portable blog writers you like using more. I like Live Writer cause it has interesting features Raven doesn’t but then Raven has some Live Writer doesn't that I like as well. I guess it will all depend on my mood.
