As some may know I was one of the first to bitch about the short comings of Infinity Wards Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Seeing most of my friends playing the game on PC I found myself leftout and with little choice by to give in and get the game. For the most part I don't regret the buying the game. I still think it's BS that dedicated servers were left out of the game (sorta) but the game itself has been pretty good. The amount of hackers was truly annoying almost to the point of not wanting to play since it was hard to find a game that didn't have at least 1 hacker in it. But it seems IWNet and VAC finally came thru and a recent mass ban of MW2 accounts has made it more tolerable. Unlike many "crybabies" out there I don't make big deals out of the camping, noobtubes and any other game style so many out there cry about. Hackers was my only stink about this and any other game.
Anyways, now we have an opportunity to extend the enjoyment of this game as the new map pack, called the Stimulus Package (not exactly an appropiate name since it's not free), that was released earlier this month for xBox owners will soon be coming to PC in May. So far I have heard of 5 new maps 2 being ports from the original Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. the following are the maps and links to youtube videos showing the xBox versions on these maps which I am sure will be just the same as PC.
New maps:
Storm - A small but interesting map.
Bailout - An urban map with plenty of rooms and corners to hide in.
Salvage - A mid-size map that will keep you busy with spots for everyone.
COD 4 Maps:
Crash - One of my favorite small maps. Lots of running and gunning on this one.
Overgrown - My favorite sniper map, I'm gonna have lots of fun with this one.
From the looks of the videos these map look pretty good and a good change from the norm. I was a bit disappointed that the COD 4 ported maps look almost exactly like the COD 4 versions, nothing really changed in the game. No new spots, no new buldings or windows or even rooms that were not accessable before. I really thought they would be upgraded since MW2 is basically and upgrade of COD4 MW. Still it will be fun.
It's a shame this download (DLC) is not free but DLC for a price is becoming the norm these days with some companies. So, if you got Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for PC and want some new maps cause the others are getting a bit boring, never fear the new map packs are near. Otherwsie you won't be able to play with your friend since I am not sure how you will be able to play if you don't have the new maps. Have fun.
