The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

I’ve been accused many times of being a very negative person, always looking for the downside of things. I can’t deny this but I feel it’s always good to see the pro’s and the cons of ones actions before one takes them so that one is not surprised afterwards. In this case, I feel my negative sense over the upcoming 2010 elections is justified and I believe it should be plainly obvious to many if not all.

As many of you know I tend to lean Conservative in my political opinions and more often than not this puts me on the Republican side of most debates. Because of this I find it hard to agree with most if any Democrats out there, especially this current Administration and those leading both Houses. I guess this would lead you to believe I will likely be voting for Republicans all the way in these upcoming elections and you would be correct but to be honest I don’t feel that my vote will actually be towards making things better for this country. The way I see things today and what they will be after November 2, 2010 lead me to believe that we are in for a los-lose situation where regardless of who ends up in control of the Houses things will still continue to go downhill.

Think about it, all this current administration has done is pass a healthcare bill that most were against and many who weren’t are not questioning it and passed a stimulus bill that did nothing to help the economy and did very little to save jobs let alone create any. neither is a positive as far as I’m concerned. Now they are debating on the tax cuts that will expire in January and they can’t even reach an agreement on this one. The real problem? Even with all the control in the world the Democrats have failed to not only fix any of the problem plaguing this country for the past few years, but have also failed to get everything they wanted (which to me is a good thing though but says a lot about how their party is more divided within itself). On top of this they have spent most of their time blaming the Republicans who have little power these days to even stop them and an administration that has long since been gone for nearly 2 years are are not responsible to actions taken by this current administration and the effects of these actions. Basically, the Democrats failed even when they had all the power this country could grant them, control of all 3 houses.

But one would think that simply getting rid of as many lousy Democrats from the 2 Houses as possible and giving the Republicans control over the Houses would solve this problem right? Not necessarily. You see, from my point of view, no matter who stays in control, very little if anything will be accomplished except for perhaps a consistent poo flinging battle for the next 2 years if the Republicans take control of the Houses. Basically, if the Democrats stay in control then more of the same “nothing” will continue for another 2 years with the possibility of “making things worse” if they decide to unite again and not be against each other as they are right now. In case you haven’t been paying attention, not only are many Democrats trying to save their jobs by staying clear of being linked to President Obama but some have actually come out and made statements against him and his policies. Talk about every man for himself. But if the Republicans take control of the 2 Houses then it will be 2 years of “nothing getting done” and “the Republicans block everything” or “Obama refuses to sign it” debates and arguments. In the mean time our country will continue to fall, the people will continue to lose jobs, homes, vehicles and eventually life and who knows, we may even follow in the French footsteps and start riots and protests.

Oddly enough not all may be lost. Although things have not changed much (Hope & Change? Yea right!) and we continue to be provided with the choice of “the lesser of 2 evils” every election year, I would rather have Republicans in charge of the Houses this time around as I would prefer that nothing gets done rather than having the Democrats continue to pass useless policies every time they finally decide to agree with each other. Besides, this may actually wake people up and perhaps a 3rd party candidate may arise from all this BS and force the people of this nation to stop settling for less-than-mediocre politicians. I’m not saying 2012 will be the year of the Independent presidential candidate, but it can be a chance to bring so real change, not this BS “Hope & Change” we were promised but were actually duped on, well, I wasn’t duped. I didn’t vote for the guy. I’m not that gullible.

So what do you think? Do you truly believe that these elections will actually do us any good regardless who stays or gains control of the Houses or will it simply make things worse by either having more of the same BS from the Democrats not being able to unite amongst themselves or by not getting anything done at all by the Republicans and this Administration? Or will this be the beginning of “darkest” moment “before the sunrise”?

The best government is the government that governs least.

That being said, should the republicans gain control of congress (one or both houses), it will not undo the damage done by Obama, but it will prevent further damage.  The 2 laws you noted did no good, and did plenty of bad.  Some will argue differently, but the facts speak for themselves (silly thing those facts - they get in the way of ideology).

The stimulus hurt the recovery by depriving the private sector of capital to get the economy going again.  Some will poo-poo that theory, however the facts cannot be denied.  FDR did not get us out of the depression, WWII did.  FDR only prolonged it.  As Obama has prolonged this recession.

Obamacare did nothing for the skyrocketing cost of health care.  He exacerbated it.  You need only see what has happened to coverage and cost since the law's passage to understand that simple economic truth.

Democrats were fortunate not to pass cap and Tax (then we would not be looking at a double dip recession, but a real depression), or the Union Card Check (which even ultra Liberal McGovern was against) as that would have caused massive inflation and unemployment as well.  But republicans were helpless to stop anything Obama wanted.  It was only the fact that democrats are not all one stripe and had to be catered to that slowed the inevitable progression of their socialistic agenda.

Republicans will not have the votes to cancel the damage already done (indeed, the porkulus money is already gone and all we have to show for it is a massive debt).  But they can stop Porkulus II and cap and Tax and Card check and the other policies that fit their socialist agenda but only harm the country.

It is not what they can do, but what they can stop from happening.

Exactly which is why I think not all is lost, but people need to understand that take control away from Democrats and giving it to thr Republicans will not "fix the wound" and "give us a clean bill of health", it will simply "stop the bleeding" till a real "medic" can get here and "save our lives". Till then we will simply be "patched up" by the guys with "emergency kit" in their trunk.

Exactly right.  There would have been no Reagan without a Carter.  And Obama makes Carter look good.

I'm just curious who the next "Reagan" will be? Or if that is even possible.

I was listening to a recent podcast from Common Sense with Dan Carlin and he mentioned a guy named Thomas Friedman who wrote a piece in the New York Times called Third Party Rising where he said the following:

There is a revolution brewing in the country, and it is not just on the right wing but in the radical center. I know of at least two serious groups, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast, developing “third parties” to challenge our stagnating two-party duopoly that has been presiding over our nation’s steady incremental decline.

Maybe a real third party candidate, one who can put some real pressure, one that can actually scare the other 2 party candidates is what is needed to bring out some real "Hope & Change" for this country.

They will have to be convincing. The game is stacked against anyone opposing the big two. This is one reason the Socialists are subverting the Democrat Party (and doing a good job of it at that.)
