The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

Sometimes I think that companies come up with the latest and “greatest” in technology not because they think it will be useful, beneficial and appealing to the consumer but because their whole advertising dept is based around believing the consumer is so stupid they will buy it regardless how bad the product might seems at first.

Nintendo Wii U? Are they serious? A game controller bigger than the 3DS or even an xBox or PS3 controller? With motion control? I can’t deny the game box itself looks pretty sleek, especially compared to the original design. I never quite understood the angled stand. But, although the built in 6.2 in screen looks pretty cool, the size of a motion based controller is ridiculous to say the least. When I read rumors of a possible LCD screen on the Wii controller, I assumed the controller would be a bit bigger or wider, I never expected a controller that could have been the Sega Gamegear’s brother-from-another-mother. What’s worse, the controller is not even a gaming device of it’s own. Now that would have truly been impressive. I just think that’s waaay to much control for so little added functionality, even if the screen can be used as the monitor for playing as well. All this tech and size and it’s probably not even touch screen, something that is almost mainstream these days (UPDATE: I was wrong, dam thing is a touch screen too. My mistake).

I have yet to figure out what the U stands for, to be honest I don’t know if I want to know and I am not sure I would understand if I found out. The original name, Wii, was not exactly a name I wanted to be associated with to begin with, not sure how Wii U will be accepted although I can already see jokes about this. The Nintendo Pee U.

I don’t know, what do you all think? I thought Microsoft was taking a big chance with their Windows 8 look. This definitely trumps that in my book.

Well this is a first for me. All it took was a video from the E3 Nintendo press conference showing what the controller can do and to be honest I am impressed. I am still unimpressed by the name, Wii U, but the new controller is very cool. I take back what I said about it.

From what I understand the controller can indeed act as a gaming system. You can load a game from the console to the controller and take it with you, at least in some cases. That's what they said durring the conference.

From what I heard, Nintendo did a magnificent job of confusing people as to the true function of the Wii U. For example, from what little I saw of the E3 coverage, I assumed it was just a glorified controller for the Wii, not a stand-alone console, and I wasn't the only one who thought that.

Microsoft using Metro for Windows 8 is just awful, if I wanted to use a glorified mobile phone, I would use a tablet.
