And he is lecturing Detroit on what cars to make!  The audacity and arrogance of this man continues to astound me.

Oh, now he has a new jobs plan. What happened to the old one? Is this him admitting he screwed up? That he got it wrong the first time? It took him 3 years to come up with a plan? I wonder if this jobs plan involved Canadian?

Every time he comes up with a new speech or plan, more Americans lose jobs.  He is like a cancer on the American economy.

Betcha it's gonna be a new economic stimulus package!

           Economic Stimulus – Based on the bizarre assumptions that government can spend our way to prosperity and, when it comes to spending our money, the Great Mixed-Race Father in Washington knows best.

          Economic stimulus subsidizes the feckless at the expense of the competent, the provident at the expense of the improvident (the poor schmucks who never miss a mortgage payment end up underwriting the deadbeats who took out mortgages they couldn’t afford), failed companies at the expense of thriving businesses, and the productive sector at the expense of the parasitical sector – while growing government.

          It’s also a code word for pork, larded with bacon grease. Obama’s 1073-page, $1.14 trillion (interest included) extravaganza includes subsidies for projects crucial to an economic recovery, such as $ 2 billion for a high-speed passenger train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas (greasing the tracks of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid) and an additional $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts (so it can dole out more to those who commit works of art ranging from the incomprehensible to the reprehensible).

          There are also billions for the Democrats’ favored constituencies, which in turn will help the party of plunder to stay in power in 2010 and beyond. Stimulus spending is the fertile soil from which Democratic votes grow.

          But I digress. When consumers buy products, it encourages manufacturers to produce goods people actually want. When government shovels billions at companies that produce stuff they can’t give away, it encourages them to produce even more stuff they can’t give away – further distorting the economy.

          Stimulus spending also sucks up credit the private sector desperately needs, retarding a real recovery.

          All of this works like a charm. BHO fancies himself FDR, a comparison that may not be as far-fetched as it seems at first. All of Roosevelt’s stimulus spending (which was a lot for the times) and alphabet agencies, resulted in higher unemployment in 1938 – five years into the New Deal – than in 1933, when he took office. 

That's what Rush said. Basically he is in a lose/lose situation here. Him and his people claim his stimulus plan worked and created jobs. It would make sense to simply do it again, maybe bigger. But if he does, and as most of us already know it didn't work at all, he will simply make things worse for himself putting another nail in his own coffin. But if he doesn't and tries something new then he'll be admitting his original plan didn't work, which will also put another nail in his own coffin.

Funny you should say that considering the story of Bank Of American getting ready to drop thousands of employees soon.

Obama's idea of jobs is more regulations, so companies dump employees in anticipation of higher costs.

Frustratin', ain't it?  Same week he tells us to lower our expectations and plan of sharing in the sacrifice...he announces he will save all our asses just as soon as he returns from that Mecca of Liberalism:  Martha's Vinyard.  The previous Dem president showed us what happens when poor white trash gets elected, this one shows us how the inner-city pres lives.

Trade is a 2-way street. What do you want exactly, that Canada/USA trade relations grind to a halt because people in the US should absolutely stop buying anything Canadian?

What in return, should our own politicians refuse to buy anything made in the United States in retaliation? Or should we take such measures lying down, take a hit to our economy while you let politics impede over free market?

There is a reason why he bought Canadian buses: the product he wanted at the best price. That's how business is conducted between our countries. If American manufacturers have a problem competing with CANADIANS, and start crying about it, maybe they should take a look at the way their businesses are ran. We're not freaking chinese paid 2$ a day, for god's sake.

Corporate taxes are sky-high here, the cost of living is actually higher here than in the US, and the CAD is on a much higher level than it's natural state with the US, making our exports look ever less competitive compared to US manufacturers.

But when one of our business happens to be able to compete, oh NOES!!! BAD BAD BAD CANADIANS!! Get back to making canoes, Free Trade is an aberration that has to be hunted down and destroyed when it doesn't favor US businesses.

Ultimately, is that what you want? Rampant protectionism? That's what cascaded the 1929 crisis into a decade-long recession; reactive trade protectionism between trading countries. International trade was destroyed. And what brought back the world economy going was the opening of free market through the Breton-Woods agreement, thanks to the US Leadership convincing their client-countries to lower their own trade barriers.

Good to see you again.   But no one is talking about stopping all trade.  However, you do not go on a tour to promote jobs in a bus made in a foreign country!  You are missing the symbolism here. The fact he bought the busses indicates he has no inclination of banning trade.  But it is hypocritical of him to talk about what is killing jobs here, when he buys foreign.

That makes sense from a business perspective, but not from a political one. Especially when he is trying to raise the cost of everything else with his policies.

No one is talking about trade here. We are talking about hypocrisy. It's about a man how cries foul when American jobs are sent overseas while he uses Canadian made buses to promote more jobs here. It's not about cost, had he truly cared about jobs in the US he would have spent the extra money getting the buses here, after all the money would have gone straight into the economy. Do  yourself a favor and stop trying to create debates that are not related to the topic at hand. This has nothing to do with trade.

It's funny you say that. One thing Democrats cry about is how American jobs are sent overseas but it's obvious to everyone why it's done. Products are cheaper when made in countries like China and India. Think about it, who's gonna pay thousands of dollars for an American made iPad?

But according to you, American companies should learn how to compete. OK, they need to lower prices to compete, which means they will have to somehow find the material they need to make their products cheaper and then they will need a workforce that will work for less. Well, this does not sound like something the average person wants although it does sound like something Democrats want. Seems to me that's what you want too or do you expect companies to create products in the US and be happy with what they make all while buying expensive material and paying their employees high wages. You apparently have no idea why people have businesses.

I see, I offended you, that's why you posted this. Well, let me be the first to apologize for giving the impression that we should not be doing business with any other country, especially Canada. Let me give you a piece of advise. Next time you feel insulted because you're too thin skinned, try growing a thicker skin and rereading peoples comments and make sure you understand the point of the article before you go on a "BAD BAD BAD CANADIANS!!" rampage. Talk about misguided.
