The World Thru My Eyes - I speak my mind and man does it like to talk.

2009, a year where the Republicans became the minority in the Gov't and lost most of their power to keep balance in the Gov't, the GOP in Congress have shown still have a backbone and will not back down and bow down to he who believe's because he won that somehow his will shall be done.

Bush was criticized by many for approving the $700 billion stimulus package that was said to go against what the majority of Americans wanted. To this day the bill has done very little of what was said it would do. Our economy continues to go down, jobs continue to be lost and businesses are closing faster than the roadrunner can run; as oppose to going into complete metdown, the degredation of our economy was simply brought to a slow and more painful crawl.

Now President Obama and his Democratic majority in Congress have passed their first "obsticle" (if it can be called an obsticle) as the second bill for the $819 billion stimulus package goes to the Senate for approval, a bill that, again, goes against what most Americans want, except this time the Republicans chose to stand their ground as Obama tried to reel them in to be "bipartisan" in these preceedings. But, it would seem that while Obama continue to grill the Republicans for not being "bipartisan" with his ideals, some Democrats also voted against the new stimulus package. It would seem that not only does Obama not have the support of the Republicans in Congress but has lost (if ever had) the support of some of his own people.

I am glad the Republicans in Congress chose to stand their grounds on this new stimulus package as it has been shown to be anything but a stimulation to the economy. This bill goes agaisnt everything Obama said he would do; at a time when we should not be wasting money, the stimulus package is stuffed with many Democratic policies and plans that seem unnecessary at a time when we can not afford them. But I will be told by many that these things are needed and I will simply say "what ever you say" as I will have no choice but to sit back and watch as those benefits work for a little while, all the while reality begins to set in and many will realize that this bill did not do what it was promised it would. Why do I say this before we even see it in action? Simple, we already saw what the first stimulus package did, very little if anything and we can't even verify what the banks did with the money they were given not to mention now they want more, and we also have countries like Japan as testament of this kind of action that did not work.

I hope the Republicans in the Senate stand up to this bill as well, if we gonna pass some kind of stimulus package in the hopes to save our economy, we need to eliminate a lot of the crap that was put in this first installment of the 2009 bill. I am sadden that Obama has decided to decieve his voters by going agaisnt that which he promised but I am even sadder his followers are too blind to see the realities of this bill and instead will follow him faithfully like some kind of God or Prophet.

They say things will get worse before it gets better. Obama seems determine to prove this saying. And we are his lab-rats for the testing. God help us all.

I'm glad too. The beefs were legitimate and as long as that holds true (I would never support holding funds from the troops , or such things, for political gain from either side) I'll support them. They seem to be on their best when they are the underdogs, I wish they would remember that when they are the majority. Also Charles, you made one error, Bush did get the $700, but only managed to squander $350 billion on the "bailout", he release the other half to Obama so he could squander it and the additional "stimulus" package .

That's true, but he did ask for it though. Still Obama should get the balme for the second half, he should have seen the errors of the firwt half and reconsider the idea of using the rest. But, God forbid a politician would actually do what he says.

They supported the first bail out back when their support (or lack of it) could've made a real difference, and only stop supporting big government spending plans when their support wouldn't make a difference to the legislation anyway (but allows them to grab some headlines). Smacks more of playing politics than doing what they think's best to me, especially since it's far worse to reward a failing company with a bailout than to spend money to stimulate the economy. Better late than never, but given their support for the bail out I can't help but doubt their sincerity.

the $700 billion stimulus package that was said to go against what the majority of Americans wanted.

perhaps because it had no real provision for oversight and generally benefited the very foolishly unregulated entities responsible for causing the financial meltdown.

To this day the bill has done very little of what was said it would do.

you can fool some of the people all of the time (as you so often prove).  who permitted his treasury secretary to decide the money should be used for something other than was originally intended and approved??

a bill that, again, goes against what most Americans want

i've seen no evidence that "most americans" oppose obama's stimulus plan.  on the other hand, most republicans--who seemingly had no problem writing blank checks over the past 8 years--suddenly done seen da light because...??  they were hit by lightning? no more bridges to nowhere need building?

if any of em had any backbone, they woulda done for the past 8 years what they're pretending to do now.

james thurber, director of the center for congressional and presidential studies at american university pretty much nailed it:

"It is somewhat disingenuous on the part of Republicans to be totally concerned about the debt and the deficit at this point because they were there when the debt went up."

as in a 2001 projected 10 year surplus of 5.6 TRILLION that's become--under their stewardship--a 1.2 trillion deficit

my only criticism of his conclusion is the word 'disingenuous".  shoulda been sheer hypocrisy and dangerously pig-headed partison politics.

I never said they were innocent here but when someone does something right they deserve to be recognized dont you think? Better late than never, even if the meaning has double meaning.

Please mr bee, the average American voter is not smart enough to realize such bs from the Gov't, they voted for Obama as this great savior for Christ sake and now we hear some complaining coming down the pipelines.

you can fool some of the people all of the time (as you so often prove). who permitted his treasury secretary to decide the money should be used for something other than was originally intended and approved??

Look are you gonna agree with me or sit there and point fingers as if I was personally responsible for all the stupidity going on? Lets not forget Congress was under Democrat control during all this. Dont act as if this was a one sided blunder.

i've seen no evidence that "most americans" oppose obama's stimulus plan.

This plan is no different from the previous one except many are blinded by the fact that Obama is the one behind this one and since they think he is the savior, whyn would they say to the contrary what they had believed only a year ago? Stop the BS bee, we all know this is just a repeat blunder, you just as blinded as the rest of you flock.

on the other hand, most republicans--who seemingly had no problem writing blank checks over the past 8 years--suddenly done seen da light because...?? they were hit by lightning? no more bridges to nowhere need building?

Sucks the have the shoe on the other foot doesn't it? For 8 years Democrats bitched about everything now you dare to criticize us from doing the same? Hypocrisy at its finest.

if any of em had any backbone, they woulda done for the past 8 years what they're pretending to do now.

I guess Obama must have left his backbone at the inaguration then, seeing as he is doing a lot of things opposite of what he promissed. But you wouldn't notice that, you a blind servant of the savior reborn.

and i am sadden (sic) you're so much more concerned with ridiculous characterizations than you are correct spelling & grammar.

Wow, I'm glad the grammer police still roams the JU hallways. I could care less if I write a word here and there that's grammer lacking. But then you would know about caring less wouldn't you? Now that the Democrats are in charge, you are having caviar wishes and champagne dreams, enjoy while it last, it will be a short celebration. The Democrats will make sure of that.

great savior?  if you really believe that's a winning electoral strategy, you're even more outta touch with reality than i ever imagined.

anyone who says they voted for him and is complaining 9 days after he took office probably didn't really vote for him (if at all)
