I have a co-worker who is a very nice lady who calls often the customer hotline needing help with invoices and stuff. She likes getting me on the phone because I can be very efficient and quick. She's a very nice lady. Well today she sent me an email with some information that I would like to share with you. I think it's a great idea and plan of trying it out myself. OK - I know some of you are having financial difficulties or you know someone who is. I want to tell you about a ministry ...

Just about 3 years ago I found myself lucky enough to work, as a temp, for the company I now work as a full-time employee today. At the time, my job was meant to be temporary and I was expected to be let go once they didn't need me anymore. Lucky for me the changes they were planning that would have ended my chance to work for the company were put on the back burner allowing time to earn my spot and convince management to hire me full time. It was the happiest day of my life to have the opportun...

Call me ignorant, but I can only educate myself by asking questions of which I have no answers to. Can someone please explain to me, in the most easiest way possible to explain, why is it that I can do my taxes on, say, turbotax.com or H&RBlock.com and not pay a penny for my refund, yet every local tax return business (H&R Block, Liberty Tax, Jackson Hewitt) wants to charge an average of $250 to file your tax return? Why such a discrepancy? How are they in business? Why do people go t...

Some time ago I came across a set of audio books online for the Harry Potter series. I am a big fan of the movies but have been told by many that (as any other movie made from a book) the movies don't do the stories justice and that a lot of interesting things get left out or changed somewhat. I am, however not a big fan of reading. No matter how hard I try, i can't read anything that has too many words on a single page followed by hundreds of pages. Let's just say my kids don't get much of bedt...

It's not so much the time change that bugs me. Sure the inconvenience of having to reset most of the clocks around the house that don't have a connection to the Internet or the Atomic Clock and the adjustments to the loss or gain of an hour for a few days could annoy most people. But there in lies the real problem for me. Things like this that create irritating people who's soul purpose seems to be to make sure everyone else who's not already irritated, irritated like them. Why do some people...

There's an old saying "Desperate times call for desperate measures". That saying is weighing heavily on many today. Lots of people without work, other spending less and saving more. Now a days making a buck is not as easy as it use to be. But there are some out there that are not letting this economic problem stop them from finding ways to make a buck. I have seen many smart ideas to make some extra money on the side. Everything from pet care, pet grooming, furniture movers, mobile car was...

As I wrote on my article Giving President Obama a chance; to break a promise Obama basically broke his promise of bring down pork spending to 1994 levels when he signed the Omnibus Spending bill. But Democrats can’t take all the blame for this shameful waste of money during a time when “fiscal responsibility”. as per Obama’s own words, should be this Administrations priority. For those who think some of us here on JU only have one agenda, to criticize everything Obam...

A few weeks ago I saw a story on foxnews.com ( Google Eath Leads Man to 'Buried Treasure' ) where a man claims to have found the City of Atlantis while using Google Earths new feature called Google Ocean that lets users see 3D views of the bottom of the ocean. The story caught lots of peoples attention as the posibility of such a finding would be spectacular thru the simple use of some simple, free software and some free time. Image couresy of PCWorld.com Now PCWorld.com ( Google Si...

I figured I would follow in Island Dogs concept of asking about what happened to you this past week so here it goes. They say laughter is good for the soul. I would like to you what made you laugh this past week? Anything you saw on the street, a scene in a movie, something on the radio, something you kids, spouse, friend or family member did. Let's bring on the laughter.

Well actually, in this case, I don't know at all what happened at all. Just a few days ago I wrote an article asking for suggestings on digital cameras for a Valentines gift (never actually got the camera, read why) and saw that Little-Whip offered to give me hers. I had not noticed the offer till a few days later but was unable to send her a msg at the time to thank her for the offer and to go ahead and send it to me. When I finally got to msg her, I noticed she had changed her name to LWEXI...

I'm sure that the answer to my dilemma is probably pretty obvious. See, every tax season, when I get my refund, I usually get a lot of money back. This is the only time thru out the year I get to buy myself a "want" or 2. Spending most of the year paying bills and hardly having enough for some entertainment here and there, I figure it's kinda nice to be able to treat myself to something I couldn't normally get thru out the rest of the year. Usually I find myself sporting what was the latest the ...

As a minority Hispanic, in a way I am happy our country has shown it can look past the color of a man’s skin and elect him for President, while a woman did not win, we also proved a woman can also stand side by side with the boys and fight to lead our country. Now that we have our first Black President I have wondered if this will somehow bring down some of the racial walls that still exist in this country. But I also can’t help but think it’s a shame we needed to vote in a Minority in this coun...

It looks to me like those from the Republican Party that survived the November elections were probably better off losing seeing as their opinions and votes are almost as useless as a knife in a gun fight. According to the Media, Obama warned the Republicans on capital Hill to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh if they want to get things done. If by “getting things done” he means getting what they want, then those Republicans he was warning can only be 1 of 2 things to be able to actually listen to ...

Now that a Democrat is President and Congress and the Senate of under their control as well, will our favorite Bush basher, the Ol' Colonel, make a comeback? And what about a Republican version of him? Can we have an Obama basher on JU in the same manner? I volunteer to throw some bashing every once in a while but I could never live up to our favorite former resident troll.

Now that Obama is now President Obama and was singing the National Anthem at the end of his Inauguration, do all these people, who we once heard about claiming would never sing or recognize the National Anthem because it speaks of a time when slavery still existed in the US, still won't recognize or sing the National Anthem? I just can't help but wonder how will this and other kinds of racist situations will be affected now that we have had our first Black man as President of the US. I feel t...
