It's amazing that after 2 years away Joeuser.com is still up and running. Granted the send to be a lot less activity than before but it's great to see this site alive. I see it's mostly Stardock articles, which makes sense, the days. I loved being here when there were healthy discussions about politics and current events, the arguments are so intense it was great. Sadly I see little to any political discussions. Well, times change but it's nice to see the site still up. Maybe I...

Just curious. Seeing as Microsoft will have a new Windows OS by the end of the year, Windows 10, I was wondering if there were any new plans for Object Desktop since Windows 10 won't focus so much on the "Metro" style UI as much as it did before. I am interested in renewing my Object Desktop Subscription and would like to know if there is something in the works.   Thank you.

I just don't know what the deal is. I am using Fences Public and no matter what I do it continues to restart my explorer to the point of disabling Fences. Makes me wonder how well known this issue is considering there is a feature that disables it because of the fact that explorer crashes. Can someone please help me out here. Fences is an awesome program and would really rather not uninstall it. I use to own the pro version but, Stardock rules about buying software are rather funny and th...

Ok so I kinda noticed that every so often the monitor on my job PC (and that of several other co-workers) tends to flash a few times several times a day as if someone was take a picture of my screen. Now I know there is software that can take pictures of your desktop but I doubt it would be as obvious as to have a flash-like feature. I doubt this company would want to make it so obvious they are taking snapshots at our desktops and why so often anyways? Not to mention, the amount of people worki...

It looks like this? In case you haven’t figured it out, this is a picture of President Obama along side one of his 2 paid-by-taxpayers million dollar buses which he is using to ride across the US to talk about American job creation (nice way to use tax payers money to pay for your campaigning). BTW, did I mention these buses were made in Canada? I guess when Obama stated that he wanted to see products sold around the world that said “Made in America” he meant to include Canada since...

Hey everyone, I need some help with a hard drive issue. Here's the story. On Friday, after i connected my portable drive to my work PC as I always do, I notced I was unable to access 2 folders on it that I use often at work. I kept getting the "access denied" error. because it's a job PC I figured maybe one of the IT settings might have accidentally locked these folders. It also crossed my mind that somehow my company might have purposely done it to keep me from accessing these f...

In following up on Dr JBHL’s article Privacy Settings in Google + : What you should know , I came across an interesting page from google.com support that reads the following: The purpose of Google Profiles is to enable you to manage your online identity. Today, nearly all Google Profiles are public. We believe that using Google Profiles to help people find and connect with you online is how the product is best used. Private profiles don’t allow this, so we have decided to requ...

How cool is this? I’m a big fan of Tekzilla , an excellent online tech show found on the Revision3 website and on one of their Tekzilla Daily videos they features Fences as a cool way to customize and organize your desktop. Here’s the video: Pretty cool to be on Tekzilla. Way to go Stardock.

What’s with all the hype? The game looks like it sucks. All this time and this is the best they could come up with? Even the graphics look crappy for a game being developed for this long and with all the graphics that games like MW3 and Battlefield 3 have. Can anyone point out what’s the deal? Does anyone really think it’s worth buying? I surely don’t. To be honest I’m sick of the advertising, all the attention from every tech site I visit, good and bad. I think this game will bomb and only the ...

How many commercials does it take to get Best Buy mad enough to send a “ Cease and Desist ” letter to Newegg.com? According to Newegg and Maximum PC, just one. It seems that Best Buy felt “concerned” and “offended” when they found out that Newegg’s new advertising campaign seemed to be taking shots at the Big Electronics chain. One of complaints Best Buy had on their “Cease and Desist” letter to Newegg was about a logo Newegg is currently using on their Geek On advertising where apparentl...

Sometimes I think that companies come up with the latest and “greatest” in technology not because they think it will be useful, beneficial and appealing to the consumer but because their whole advertising dept is based around believing the consumer is so stupid they will buy it regardless how bad the product might seems at first. Nintendo Wii U? Are they serious? A game controller bigger than the 3DS or even an xBox or PS3 controller? With motion control? I can’t deny th...

Who would have thought that someone would use a game like World Of Warcraft (WoW) as a tool for exploitation? Who would have thought anyone would be forced to play a game like WoW and somehow the enforcers would financially benefit from it. According to this Endgadget article that is exactly what a former Chinese prisoners complained about as he explained how the guards would force the prisoners to play WoW for 12 hours a day and then take the loot collected in the games and sell them onl...

Although I can understand the reason behind the thoughts of those who are actually happy in some way over this Mac Defender trojan that has infected thousands of Mac computers in recent weeks, I am not sure this is really a cause for celebration amongst us Windows user. I mean who wouldn’t want to take an opportunity like this one to rub it in Apple Fanboy faces how their precious Mac computers are not as “bullet proof” as they make them out. How all it would take is someone willing to make the ...

Just the other day I was watching a Tekzilla episode where they were talking about 3D TVs, the different 3D glasses that exist and how it affects people who use prescription glasses underneath the 3D glasses and it got me to think about the future of 3D TVs and how an article on Maximum PC states that although 3D TVs don’t seem to be catching on and don’t seem like they will due to the tech being too new and not developed enough, they still believe it’s not gonna go bye-bye any time soon if at a...

You know, I have never considered this idea before. The last time I bought a laptop a few years ago I had gaming in mind so I bought a fast, powerful laptop with a 17” screen. I was excited that it came with a blue-ray drive but to be honest I only bought one movie just because I had the drive. Never used it from there on except to install software once in a while or burn a CD/DVD. Well, that laptop is no more as I, apparently, pushed the limits of it’s gaming abilities and eventually burn...
